Long-time member of Washburn Fire and Rescue retires

WASHBURN, Maine On the evening of Sept. 27, 2014, Washburn Fire and Rescue said farewell to former Fire Chief Troy Heald who retired from the department.

The department held an event in Troy’s honor as a thank you for his many years of service and dedication.  Troy, who has been Washburn’s fire chief for several years, stepped down from that position back in March and took on the role of assistant fire chief. This enabled Nate Allen, who has been the assistant, to take on the role of chief — with Troy still around for guidance. Troy has given 18 years of service to Washburn Fire and Rescue, beginning in 1996.
Greg Sperrey has taken on the role of assistant fire chief.
