CARIBOU – “Time to get up, boys, the deer are moving!” Robert won his battle and went home to be with Jesus on September 30, 2014, just recently celebrating 67 years, August 26, 1947. Robert was born in Washburn, the son of Robert and Violet (Ells) and was raised on a farm in Carson. His passion for farming and hunting came naturally to him as these passions were passed on to him through his father.
As a young man, he was in the National Guard for nine years while continuing to take care of the facilities of the Caribou Armory for another 22 years. He retired as a custodian in 2008, where he shifted his focus on his life long interests in firearms at his business, Cameron’s Gun Shop.
After he married his sweetheart, Rose Tracy in 1969, in Caribou, they raised their three children, Jonathan, Matthew and Jana. During these wonderful 45 years, he was a very active member of the Caribou Assembly of God from assisting with Royal Rangers, driving the vans for Sunday School to visiting the shut-ins.
Robert is survived by his wife, Rose (Tracy) Cameron; his children, Jonathan of Caribou, Matthew of Gorham, and Jana (Cameron) Haney and husband, Dale of Caribou; his grand-children, Coty Cameron, Kyle Haney and Mercedes Haney, all of Caribou; his sisters, Brenda Swafford and husband, Larry of Caribou, and Juanita Harris and husband, Dick of Nebraska. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends and family called from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Caribou Assemblies of God Church, where the funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014, with Rev. Jeremy McLellan officiating. Interment was held at the Evergreen Cemetery. Following interment, there was a reception held at the Caribou Assemblies of God Activity Center.
