Job fair slated today

    PRESQUE ISLE—The Presque Isle CareerCenter, Maine Department of Labor, Northern Maine Development Corporation (NMDC) and Leaders Encouraging Aroostook Development (LEAD) are co-sponsoring a job fair on October 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Presque Isle Recreation Center, 270 Main Street. Job fair attendees should bring multiple copies of their resume and be prepared for a job interview.

    “This month I visited several businesses in the County to celebrate their new investments and the creation of as many as 165 new jobs throughout the region,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “Good things are happening in Maine’s economy. We’ve set a record this month with 8,435 jobs on the Maine Job Bank. We know employers are looking for help.
    “This job fair features different types of occupations and industries. Come prepared to interview with Aroostook County employers and highlight the skills you will bring to their business,” LePage added.
    Participating employers will include: Aroostook Mental Health Center, Border Patrol, Care and Comfort, Columbia Forest Products, Irving Woodlands, Maine State Police, Manpower, Maurices, Naturally Potatoes, Northern Lighthouse, Personal Services of Aroostook, Pines Health Services, Providence Human Services, RH Foster, Sears, TEMPO Employment Services, Townsquare Media, and the Vet Center.

    The center, located at 66 Spruce Street in Presque Isle, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
    The CareerCenters are part of the Maine Department of Labor and offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O’Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
