Fall Car Care

What Kids Say

Scott Mitchell Johnson talked to children at Fort Fairfield Elementary School

“What would you want to have with you if the vehicle you were riding in broke down during the winter?”

Sarah Hadfield
Age: 5
Kindergarten

“If the road wasn’t all covered with snow, I’d want bikes and coats and stuff.
The coats would be to stay warm, and the bikes would be so we could ride home.”

“A chain so we could tow the car, a snowplow to help dig us out of the snow,
and a camper to sleep in in case we had to spend the night.”

Isabella Winters

“If it’s winter and we don’t have any snow gear on then snow gear … snow pants, gloves, hats, coats and boots.
If somebody got hurt it would also be good to have a first aid kit with Band-Aids, tweezers and bandages.”

“Stuff to fix the truck … probably some wrenches and screws and stuff like that.
Also the things that you put on the battery if the battery breaks or runs out [booster cables].”

Landen Leavitt
Age: 7

“I would want extra gas in case the vehicle ran out,
and tools so we could fix the car … tools like wrenches and screwdrivers.
My Dad would probably try to fix it.”

Trevor Deschaine
Age: 7

“Something to pull the car out like a really strong rope with a hook,
an extra battery in case the battery runs out, and an extra gas can in the back so you never run out of gas.
It would also be good to have a warm jacket, hat, mittens and winter boots.”
