SAINTE ANNE DE MADAWASKA & CARIBOU – On a beautiful, sunny October 12 afternoon with the sun sparkling off the Penobscot River at 3:53 p.m., our wife, mother, grandmother and friend was ushered into heaven by the angels with her family by her side after a brief, sudden and valiant fight with blastomycosis.
Donna was born at home in Keith, West Virginia on June 24, 1949, to Roy “Junior” Tawney and Mageline Abbott Cameron. She was a member of Sherman High School class of 1968. She married her husband of 46 years, Maurice L. Parent, in 1968. From this marriage, there were three children, Richard, Yvette and Maurice II.
They made their home in Connecticut for a few years, then in New Brunswick, Canada and then in 1979 moved back to Seth, West Virginia until they were able to migrate back north to Sainte Anne de Madawaska, New Brunswick, Canada in 2002. Donna worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years in the southern West Virginia area as well as in the Van Buren, Maine office. She was loved by everyone everywhere with her spunky attitude, cute little giggle and adorable Southern accent that will be missed by so many. She took exceptional pride in the way she presented herself as well as impeccable care of her home. Donna loved the beach, sand, flip flops, laughter and enjoying the outdoors. She was a true “Southern” girl for certain.
Donna was preceded by her parents and infant son, Richard Maurice. She is survived by her husband, Maurice “Tic” Parent of Ste. Anne de Mada-waska; daughter, Yvette Parent Seaman of Caribou; son, Maurice L. Parent II of Hickory, North Carolina; and two grandchildren that she truly adored, Tyler and Tilly Seaman of Caribou; as well as her brother, Mike Cameron of Seth, West Virginia.
Her services will be held Friday, October 24, 2014, at 4 p.m. at the Sainte Anne de Madawaska Church. The family will receive condolences at the Sainte Anne de Madawaska Church from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. the same day. Arrangements by Bellavance Residence Funeraire in Edmundston, New Brunswick. Friends who wish to contribute in Donna’s memory may do so through the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org), perform a random act of kindness in her name and memory, or sit and visit with someone that may be lonely and need a cup of coffee and companionship.
Our hearts are empty and we will miss her immensely and we continue to repeat “unbelievable” regarding her passing. “None of us know how much time we have left on this earth. What is left in the end are your actions, the memories you left behind and how you made people feel. And what you want to leave behind is people who remember you with love.”
