The Houlton Parks and Recreation Department will be offering the following events and programs for Houlton area youth.
Laser youth dance for grades 7-9 on Friday, Oct. 24 at the rec center from 7-10 p.m. Music, laser and video show will be by KC & Company. Cost is $5 per student. Rules for the dance are once you are in, you have to stay in. Bring your friends for the first dance of the season.
Halloween Fun Party will be held at the rec center on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1-3 p.m. Preschoolers through grade 4 are invited to the party. Cost is $5 per child and parents must accompany their children. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and be ready to play games, do a craft and have a snack. Make plans now for a fun family time.
Youth Art Class has extended the age group to grades 3-6. This program will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Houlton Rec Center. Local artist Frank Sullivan will be the instructor. This six-week program costs $40 per youth and registration is required. Call the department at 532-1310 by Oct. 24. This class is limited to 12 students and youth in RSU 29 may travel on their bus to the rec center on this day for class.
Youth basketball registrations are being accepted for three different programs until Nov. 14. Little Hoopsters is for grade K; Tykes basketball is for grades 1-2; and Peewee basketball is for grades 2-3. Registration forms have been distributed throughout Houlton area schools or parents can drop by the rec department office to fill one out.
