We need Haines’ experience in Augusta
To the editor:
Troy Haines is a experienced Aroostook County small business owner who will best represent Maine House District 146. He served as the director of the Mapleton Rec Department and was director for the Maine Fair Trade Campaign trying to reverse the NAFTA free trade model.
Currently, Troy is very busy serving hunters and farmers with a growing game meat processing business that he built. He knows how important it is to capitalize on Aroostook County’s greatest assets to boost the economy – the strong work ethic of citizens and our wealth of natural resources.
Troy will tackle state and federal trade regulation that disadvantages Maine loggers. He knows the devastating effects of the current administration’s practice of shifting the tax burden to towns and is committed to restoring revenue sharing and reducing our property taxes.
UM Presque Isle is now offering a Sustainable Agriculture concentration in the Environmental Studies and Sustainability Program, and I believe Troy will be a representative who, in his words, will “… to do everything in my power to support the family farm so that family farmers can make a living and Aroostook County can become the breadbasket of New England.”
Troy understands that education is the pathway to a better future and he will work to uphold state funding of 55 percent of education costs, and for improved access to affordable health care and the Medicaid expansion. We need Troy’s experience and vitality in Augusta. Vote for Troy Haines!
