In regards to the pellet boiler article in last week’s paper, I don’t really understand the problem the city of Caribou is having with their pellet boilers. We started using European boilers four years ago.
We have four different European boilers from four different European companies working for us in our Caribou business. The pellet boilers are fully automated with silos outside or inside and the savings have been more than 50 percent on fuel. We have been using the pellets from Ashland and these pellets have been working fine.
Efficient pellet boilers work very much like oil boilers with little attention needed. We clean them once a year and remove the ashes about four times a month. Total amount of service required is about four hours a year.
