GLASTONBURY, CT – Joanne M. McLaughlin of Glastonbury, Connecticut passed away quietly on October 26, 2014, a week shy of her 80th birthday. Joanne was born in Houlton, Maine on November 3, 1934.
Joanne graduated from Houlton High School, class of 1953. She lived and worked as a home health care attendant in Connecticut for most of her adult life. Joanne enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: reading, watching television, a home-cooked meal, and socializing with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Llewellyn McLaughlin and Maggiebelle (Irish) McLaughlin; her sisters, Clara (McLaughlin) St. Pierre of Houlton, Glenna (McLaughlin) Duguay of Haynesville, Maine, Patricia (McLaughlin) Landry of Augusta, Maine; and her brothers, Omar (Bud) McLaughlin of Houlton, and Emery McLaughlin of Haynesville; two nephews, Douglas Baker of Casselberry, Florida and Patrick McLaughlin of Haynesville. She is survived by two sisters, Etta (McLaughlin) Snell and Betty Lou McLaughlin, both of Haynesville; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Elaine Anderson of Glastonbury, Connecticut.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Kimberly Hall South, Windsor, Connecticut, who treated Joanne with loving kindness and took care of her in her final days.
Interment and graveside service for Joanne will be held in Haynesville at a later date.
