Reach out, befriend a veteran

Remember those who served

Reach out, befriend a veteran

Here, we can read and see the price this nation has paid for the freedom that so many take for granted, especially the pacifist. It was not won by turning the other cheek or hiding your head in the sand.

Our nation was founded by the men and women that put their lives on the line and many paid the ultimate price. That price has been paid for from the days of the Boston Tea Party to the Middle East wars of today by many unsung heroes.
There are many heroes in our midst today. Many are struggling to cope with everyday life. There are those who are foretelling our nation’s dreams and hopes to the next generation.
That’s why we need to honor and recognize them and give them a helping hand when needed. Nine times out of 10 they are not going to ask for help (because that’s not their style). Reach out and be the friend or family that they fought for and need (a friend that is closer than a brother or sister).
Look up to your God and give thanks to the many that have paid the ultimate price and gone on to a better place. As you honor the fallen, don’t forget those that are still with us. Reach out and be a friend and say, “Thank you for your giving of your time to serve so that we can enjoy the freedom to live as we desire.” Give them the respect they earned and deserve, the respect that comes from stepping up to the job no matter what the price would be.
God bless our troops.
