CARIBOU – George F. Sullivan, Sr., 79, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Cary Medical Center after a long illness. George was born in Caribou on January 31, 1935, to William and Lena (Holmes) Sullivan.
George worked in the potato industry until his train accident in 1962. Before his accident, he served in the National Guard for 3 years. He married Dolores Mae (Hebert) on October 16, 1954, in Perth Andover, NB. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores of 60 years; his children and their spouses: Lena and Terry Guerrette of FL, Donna and her significant other, Elwin Gamblin of Woodland, Mary and Bob Porter of CA, Geri Martin of Fort Fairfield, Robin Sullivan of Connor, George and Yong Sullivan of TX, David Sullivan of Caribou, William and Jean Sullivan of Caribou, Jeffery and Kim Sullivan of Colorado. He leaves his siblings and their spouses: Melvin and Judy Sullivan of Florida, Raymond and Willena of Waldoboro, Gerald and Linda of Caribou, Maxine Bush of NY, Barbara Doherty of West Virginia, and Donna Thibodeau of NY. In addition, he will be missed by 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings: William “Junior”, Omar, Ronald, and Eva Doherty.
Friends and family may call from 10-11 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at the Caribou Assemblies of God Church, Sweden St., Caribou, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Pastor Don Owen officiating.
