The Apostolic Pentecostal Church will host its second Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Mars Hill on Sunday, Nov. 23.
The church collects donations from the surrounding community and prepares a delicious old-fashioned turkey dinner, which will be held at the church building on 86 Fort Rd., Mars Hill, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone can come in and dine or if they are unable to attend, if they call the church someone will deliver it to the towns of Mars Hill, Blaine and Bridgewater.
Last year organizers served around 130 meals, many to the elderly and shut-ins. If you have any questions, call Jessica Kingsbury at 429-8170 or Pastor Cameron Price at 227-2287.
United Methodist Women
Due to an early snow storm, the Nov. 2 meeting of the United Methodist Women was postponed until Nov. 5. For the first hour, sandwiches, chips, pickles and drinks were enjoyed, along with fellowship. Co-hostesses Gaye Cronkite and Jackie Bradley served a delicious dessert.
A short business meeting was held discussing mostly the Nov. 8 annual Fall Craft and Soup and Pie Luncheon which was later held in the church vestry.
The December meeting will be the Christmas party with all enjoying food and an exchange of gifts.
The rest of the time was spent setting up the tables and getting things ready for the Saturday sale. Members attending included: Donna Brewer, Diane Ketchum, Gaye Cronkite, Jackie Bradley, Daisy Campbell, Elaine Bailey, Joan Walsh, Joan Boone and Clara Hussey.

Upcoming events for the week of Nov. 19-25 include: Wednesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Wii Bowling at 9 a.m., Music Exercise at 10 a.m. and Crossword Puzzle Challenge at 1:30 p.m. Thursday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m., Horse Racing at 1:30 p.m. and Bridgewater Full Gospel Assembly at 6:30 p.m. Friday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Dollar Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Lunch at Gram Russo’s at 11 a.m. Saturday will feature Bingo at 9:30 a.m. Sunday will feature the Mennonite Hymnsing at 6:30 p.m. Monday will feature Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m., Game Time at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. BINGO
The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting BINGO every Saturday evening from 7 p.m. until done. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends!
Benefit
There will be a benefit supper and auction for Matt Shaw on Saturday, Dec. 13, beginning at 4 p.m. Donations can also be made at www.gofundme.com/glkwqc. More information will appear in a future column.
Wilderness Walk
Seven Wilderness Walk for Warriors team members participated in a 114-mile hike through the 100-mile wilderness that began on July 18 in Monson, each carrying an engraved stone to the top of Mt. Katahdin with the name of a fallen Maine warrior. Team members included: Chris Robinson, Timothy Robinson, Tom Steeves, Gary Shea, Joe Treadwell, Josh Blaine and Gary White, Jr. This group is dedicated to assisting veterans, service members and their families, as well as honoring Maine’s fallen heroes. One hundred percent of any funds raised through pledges will go to veterans and active service members and their families. This will be an annual event.
