SHAW, Robert “Bob” Wendell, 77, PRESQUE ISLE, November 16, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 22, at the First United Pentecostal Church (Ascend), Presque Isle. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Robert “Bob” Wendell Shaw, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 16, 2014. He was born January 21, 1937, in Presque Isle, the son of Roy W. and Pearl A. (McLean) Shaw.
Bob grew up in Presque Isle closely surrounded by family and friends. He attended public school in Presque Isle and proudly graduated with his brother, Pete, from the Presque Isle High School Adult Education Program in 1981.
Bob grew up on the family potato farm and at a young age started farming with his Dad and brother, Pete. He took over the farm in 1976 when his Dad retired and continued farming for 45 years. Bob was a runner up for McCain Foods Incorporated “Top 10” Potato Growers in 1982.
Bob was a man of great integrity and a very active member of the First United Pentecostal Church (Ascend) in Presque Isle. Bob sang in a quartet group for several years. This Christian singing ministry was enjoyed by many throughout Aroostook County, Maine and New Brunswick, Canada. He served on the church board and Deacon board for many years. His love for the Lord was manifested in his years of service and dedication to the church.
He is survived by the love of his life, Patricia (Graham) Shaw. They celebrated 57 years of marriage in June 2014. His beloved family: two daughters, Carrie-Jean (Shaw) Doody and husband, Mark, of Caribou, Cheryl Lee (Shaw) Curtis and husband, Jerry (Jed), of Presque Isle, and grandchildren, Emma Clare Curtis and Deklan Chase Curtis of Presque Isle. Bob will be missed by his two siblings, Goldena Spencer of Old Town, and Merrill Shaw and wife, Arlene of Mars Hill; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He will also be missed by his dog, Brandy.
He was predeceased by his parents and six siblings: Joyce Shaw, Verna Condon, Roy M. (Pete) Shaw, Audrey Brown, Esther Roix and Patricia Kiser; and an infant son, Scott Robert Shaw.
Bob will be missed by many friends. His friends Keith Carlson and wife, Yvonne, were always there for Bob and Patty. The family expresses deep gratitude to everyone who gave so much of their time to visit, call or send cards showing their support. Bob loved the times of fellowship with family and friends. The family wants to thank Dr. Sood and staff and visiting nurses for their care during Bob’s illness. The family also expresses a heartfelt thank you to Ruth Collins and Rev. Anthony Scott for their special guidance.
Friends may call 12 noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the First United Pentecostal Church (Ascend), 51 Wilson St., Presque Isle, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. A time of fellowship will follow the service at the church. Bob wrote in his Bible: “I don’t mind growing old; because, it is a privilege that everyone does not have. But, I know I’m going to live until I die and then living will just begin. I hope to see you and my Family in heaven. Love, Bob.”
