PTO Christmas Bazaar
The EPCO will hold a Christmas Bazaar on Wednesday, Dec. 17, for Easton Elementary students to purchase gift items for family members at the bargain price of $1 each. They are asking for donations of items that are new or gently used that would be appropriate for children, parents and grandparents. We are still in need of gift bags (any occasion) and tissue paper for wrapping. The long Thanksgiving weekend might be the perfect time to clean house and find items to donate! If you have any questions or concerns, contact the PTO at pto@eastonschools.org, on their Facebook page or call the elementary school at 488-7701.
Easton third-graders go to college
Rebecca Allen’s grade 3 class at Easton Elementary School had the opportunity to join up with Traci Halvorson’s Program Planning and Development course at the University of Maine at Presque Isle to enjoy an afternoon of rock wall climbing.
Students from the university have been studying rock climbing, high ropes and low ropes. They teamed up with the third-grade students to teach them how to rock climb and the importance of understanding how the equipment works.
The Easton students had an awesome trip and for the majority of the students were able to try something new. In class, they had been reading a story where the main character had to climb a cliff in order to save his dog that is on a ledge at the top of the cliff. What a perfect way for these third graders to experience how this character might have felt.
Kiwanis meetings
The Kiwanis Club of Easton meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6-7 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall; everyone is welcome to attend. Dinner provided for a small fee. Please plan to join them.
Benefit Supper
There will be a benefit spaghetti supper held at Easton Elementary School on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 4-7 p.m. for Matthew Shaw of Mars Hill. Matthew, who is 23, fell three stories, forcing him to try and stabilize himself. He suffered laceration to his spleen, a shattered L3 vertebrae, and a fractured pelvis. He also shattered both of his wrists. Please mark your calendars for this event. If you would like to donate an item for the live auction that will happen in conjunction with the dinner, please contact Hillary Hallett.
