First Baptist Church annual Holiday Fair

The Christmas holiday season is fast approaching and for the ladies of First Baptist Church in Houlton this means preparing for their annual holiday fair and breakfast Saturday, Dec. 6.

This event is not new to FBC, as this year marks close to 35 years of sponsoring this event. While the fair itself lasts only a few hours, many hours of planning, working on crafts, decorating, baking and cooking take place to assure the fair’s success.
Some of the craft items for sale are worked on throughout the year, however, much preparation occurs the last few days prior to the event. It takes many hands to turn Fellowship Hall from a rather plain gathering room, into a setting conveying the holiday spirit.
The fair offers an all-you-can-eat breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, home fries, baked beans and lots of fresh coffee. There will be a craft area selling many lovely handmade items, a “Twice Around” sale, baked goods featuring candy, homemade jams, jellies, pickles, desserts, breads, rolls, baked beans and potato salad. This is a favorite area of the fair as folks can take home a Saturday night dinner of baked beans, potato salad, fresh baked rolls and dessert. This year’s fair features a special section offering handmade pinecone wreaths and candleholders. You will be sure to find the perfect gift for that special someone.
The craft fair will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, with breakfas served 8-10 a.m. Breakfast is $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 12 years and younger.
This event is sponsored by ABW (American Baptist Women) statewide mission organization. The goal of this organization is to provide support for missions local and worldwide. All proceeds from this fair go for missions in Houlton and in countries around the globe.
