UMPI hosts first Regional Brain Bee

The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host northern Maine’s first Regional Brain Bee on Friday, Dec. 12, at 9 a.m. on the UMPI Campus.
UMPI Biology Professor Dr. Rachael Hannah is collaborating with faculty from the University of Maine at Machias and the University of New England is hosting the event. A Brain Bee is a neuroscience competition designed especially for 8th to 12th grade students that tests their understanding of brains and the nervous system and how they work together. The winner of the Maine Regional Brain Bee competition will advance to the national competition.
In addition to the Brain Bee, participants will enjoy a free lunch on campus and have an opportunity to take part in brain-themed activities, including sheep brain dissections, fluorescent microscopy demonstrations, and nerve cell stimulation experiments.
