Preseason basketball tournaments were held in Caribou, Mars Hill and Washburn.
In Caribou Friday, the Greely Rangers of Cumberland handed the Vikings girls a 62-33 defeat. In the boys’ game that followed, Caribou edged Greely, 64-63.
On Saturday, the Viking squads swept Waterville, with the girls winning 46-35 and the boys claiming a 54-41 triumph.
A boys’ tourney was held in Mars Hill Friday and Saturday. On the first night, Ashland topped Central Aroostook, 76-65, and Easton downed Washburn, 59-53.
The next evening saw Washburn best Ashland, 74-33, and Easton ran past CA, 71-40.
In a girls’ tourney at Washburn Monday, Central Aroostook eased past Ashland, 47-26, before the host Beavers beat Fort Kent, 73-27. The tourney continued last night with Fort Kent squaring off against CA and Ashland taking on Washburn.
