I have just received word that Bertha Pray, friend from Crystal, is now home after undergoing surgery a couple of weeks ago in Bangor. During recovery she had spent some time with friends in Brewer and it was there that she and brother, Blaine, had their Thanksgiving dinner. Blaine also is quickly recovering from surgery and so far, neither one has had to go to rehab.
The recent storm kept many people home for Thanksgiving and some went the day after to have a late Thanksgiving dinner. I just heard that Arlene Hosford is in Patten undergoing rehab following hip surgery recently. She plans on coming home soon and then will, no doubt, head for the sunny south. Clayton and Charlene Webb and son Dale, have been in Bangor lately and had the good fortune to run into former residents of Island Falls,Walt and Gwen O’Roak, who moved to Bangor in August. The O’Roaks miss their friends but are enjoying their new home and would like people to drop in when they are in Bangor.
I still haven’t laid eyes on the male cardinal after that one quick glimpse. I have lots of other birds to feed and now have seen a little red squirrel on the feeders — the first one I’ve had since last winter. I hope no more show up.
The gray squirrel is still with me and is usually seen hanging by his hind feet from the tree limb and his nose smack in the middle of the bird feeder, eating every seed in sight. I have not seen the deer the last couple of days, but I still throw out the bread for them and one night they didn’t come and get it, so will wait and see if they will return, before I throw out any more.
