We have two dogs that sadly have been with us for a month now. And with both of them, we honestly cannot figure out why that is the case. Let us tell you the stories of Daisy and Stevie.
Daisy came to us back in August from a bad situation. She was signed over to the town and brought to us in horrible shape. She had open sores all over her neck. She had fleas so bad they were in her eyes and ears. Her toenails were so overgrown that she had a hard time walking, and she was so thin that her ribs were showing.
We immediately had our vet come see her and her prognosis was obvious. She had a skin infection, mites, dehydration and malnourishment. We immediately started her on the proper diet and medicine and for six weeks Daisy stayed in our quarantine area getting all the tender loving care that she needed.
Well, since her time has been up in quarantine, she has been up for adoption with no interest. She is a 5-year-old Rottweiler mix who loves people. She sadly is not good with other dogs. We think its because we spoiled her while she was with us and now she wants to be the princess. She is spayed and housebroken, loves to go for rides and be in the snow. We have waived her fee to the right home. We would love to see her get a home for the holidays.
The next special dog we have had for a while is Stevie. He is a 10-year-old all-American mutt. He is deaf, but he doesn’t let that stop him. He loves people and is good with other animals. He came to us through one of those free sites that we talked about last time. We hate seeing those sites, with postings of “free to a good home.”
Oftentimes they don’t know if it’s a good home and that scared us with Stevie, so we stepped in and offered to help. He has been here since October and he too, sadly, has had no interest. He is an absolute doll, loves attention and going for walks. He is neutered and has all his shots. His adoption fee too is waived to a good home. He would love to have a family to wake up to Christmas morning.
We have so many animals that have been with us for some time. They all deserve their stories told. Obviously we cannot put them all in here, so why not come in and see all we have and hear their stories firsthand? Each one of our animals only has one wish for Christmas — a home for the holidays!
