    CARIBOU — Hannaford Supermarkets will host grand opening festivities in its Caribou store on Saturday, Dec. 13 to celebrate the inclusion of the former Shop ‘n Save store into the Hannaford family.

    Hannaford, which was founded in Portland more than 130 years ago, purchased the two Aroostook County stores in early November. The Caribou and Houlton operations had been wholesale customers of Hannaford, and they continue to carry the assortment of high-quality fresh and packaged foods that local shoppers appreciate.
    “Every one of our stores is deeply involved in the community, contributing to area food pantries, purchasing products from nearby farms, and getting involved in local community activities,” said Tom Perry, the company’s director of operations for northern Maine. “Customers of the Caribou and Houlton Hannaford supermarkets will find low everyday prices for the products they need and the friendly service they deserve.”
    The Grand Opening Celebration will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 and includes:
• Door prizes of randomly valued gift cards — up to $250 — to the first 200 shoppers (with a limit of one card per family;
