Marissa Chasse of the state champion Ashland Hornets was named Maine Class D Co-Player of the Year by the Maine Soccer Coaches during the annual banquet held Sunday.
Chasse, the all-time leading goal scorer in Ashland girls soccer history, shared the Class D award with Penobscot Valley High School’s Amy Hallett.
Other girls’ winners were Jenna Soucy of Windham in Class A, Pilar Elias of Waterville in Class B and Dian Tyutyunnyk of Orono in Class C.
Boys’ players of the year were Stephen Ochan of Deering in Class A, Adam LaBrie of Yarmouth in Class B, Harry Baker-Connick of Class C and Cameron Emmons of Richmond in Class D.
Making the Eastern Maine State Team for girls from the region were Chasse, Sarah Doak of Caribou, Hannah Graham of Presque Isle and Mackenzie Worcester of Washburn. They were joined by Ally Boulier and Mary Butler, both of Bangor; Gretchen Wright of Brewer, Mikayla Morin of Oxford Hills, Claire Peterson of Hermon, Opal Curless of MDI, Elias, Madison McVicar of Calais, Danielle Pelletier of Fort Kent, Chelsea Gentle of Houlton, Tyutyunnyk, Hallett and Morgan Moon of PVHS.
Local player making the boys’ Eastern Maine State Team were Ben Nickerson of Presque Isle, Cody Blair of Ashland and Johnny Theriault of Fort Fairfield.
Josiah Krul of Camden Hills, formerly of Caribou, also made the elite squad along with Carson Atherly and Nate Bach, both of Bangor; Masiah Hassen of Edward Little, Tristan Gardner and Noah Parker, both of Hampden; Abdi Shariff of Lewiston, Drew Parsons of Mt. Blue, Jeff Weeks of Ellsworth, Baramee Janla and Sam Smith, both of Sumner; Tucker Sheehan of Washington Academy and Seth Pearson of Bangor Christian.
Elias and Ochan were named All-Americans and Elias, Curless, Soucy, Ochan, Gardner and LaBrie earned All-New England status.
Tim Tweedie, a Mars Hill native who coaches the Houlton girls, was named Eastern Maine Coach of the Year and is a nominee for the NSCAA Region I honor.
