The United Methodist Women’s monthly meeting was held in the church vestry on Dec. 1 at noon, with 11 members and two guests present. After the food blessing by Pastor Sue, the next hour was spent enjoying a delicious Christmas luncheon. Special assorted sandwiches were provided as well as salads, chips, drinks and sweets.
Following the luncheon, a short business meeting was held. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and accepted. It was voted to give $100 to the local nursing home for Christmas gifts. A special card was presented to Pastor Sue. Also a card signed by all will be sent to former member Frances Banks, now living in Cape Elizabeth.
The next hour was spent enjoying a Yankee Swap with a few “friendly” exchanges. All left smiling and satisfied with their gifts.
Members present included: Pastor Sue, Donna Brewer, Diane Ketchum, Jackie Bradley, Gaye Cronkite, Joan Walsh, Joan Boone, Elaine Bailey, Nina Trask and Marie Hewitt. Guests were Amy Kneeland and Betty Mahan.

Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning, Dec. 9, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Rotarian Rena Kearney, who told the tale of her special White House Christmas ornaments. She received several from her brother, who “stole” them during a visit last year.
He sent her various notes through the year depicting his efforts to find them before sending a final picture showing them beautifully framed — her Christmas present from him.
The only issue was that she had to come get them herself! With help from friends, they finally made it back to Mars Hill and she will hang them on her wall to enjoy.
BINGO
The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting BINGO every Saturday evening from 7 p.m. until done. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends!
