HODGDON — Thanks to a generous Fast Track grant from the Perloff Foundation and in conjunction with Maine Family Resource Center’s 21st CCLC after school program, Hodgdon’s Mill Pond will be hosting a Children’s Stage Adventures residency the week of Dec. 15-19.
Mill Pond students will perform “The Emperor’s New Clothes” on Friday, Dec. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The cost is $2 for adults and $1 for students. The public is encouraged to come out to support the students and pack the house.
Children’s Stage Adventures brings high quality theatre experiences to children allowing them to perform in a high-quality production of a classic children’s tale. They supply all the costumes and professional sets. A local pianist accompanies the production.
Students learn self discipline, responsibility, the value of team work and focusing on goals. The live performance helps students to build confidence, self-esteem, pride and a sense of accomplishment.
Actors from CSA arrived in Hodgdon Monday morning. Auditions commenced immediately and by the end of the day Monday students had their roles assigned. In just five days of intense rehearsal all songs, lines, dances and staging are learned.
During the residency week additional acting workshops will occur such as mime, improvisation, stage skills and dramatics.
