BU-CLR-Rotary-dcx-pt-51Henry Carpenter, middle, of Northern Lighthouse was the guest speaker at the Houlton Rotary Club Nov. 17. Carpenter gave a brief overview of the history of the Northern Lighthouse that

was first started by a couple that had been helping children for years and wanted to do more, and that they have! They now employ 115 people and have a six-bed Mental Health Facility/home to assist children in improving their lives. They also provide many other services like Section 28, which is a service that some children that qualify for it can get assistance in learning skills that they may struggle with. They have outpatient therapy for children and adults. They currently have a parenting class in their new Houlton location on the corner of Market Square and Water St. They prominently receive MaineCare as payment but are now also accepting many other forms of insurance. Please visit their location for more information or their website at tlnh.org. With Carpenter are Rotarian Alan Lindquist and Rotary President Jane Torres.
