BENTON – Margaret L. (Cyr) Parker, 71, died peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2014, at Ross Manor in Bangor, Maine.
She was born on January 4, 1943, in Houlton, Maine, the daughter of the late Louis and Isabelle (DeMerchant) Cyr. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Margaret married P. Don Parker on March 18, 1964. She attended Houlton High School and graduated in 1962. She was primarily a homemaker, working a short time at Dexter Shoe, Mardens and Holiday Inn. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning, loved everyone and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved her three grandchildren and treasured the time spent with them.
Margaret is survived by her son, Don Parker and his wife, Sheri, of Freeport; her daughter, Kellie (Parker) Duplisea and her husband, Robert, of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, Lauren and Reiley Parker and Ethan Duplisea; her brothers, Edward Cyr and his wife, Betty, of Portland, Leland Cyr and his wife, Donna, of Houlton; her sisters, Janice Lovelette and her husband, Allen, of Hermon, Yvonne Lovelette of Vermont, and Marie Jenkins of Houlton; her brother-in-law, Lee Parker and his wife, Kay, of Ashland; sisters-in-law, Anne Ketch and her husband, Clyde, of Windham and Donna Beaulieu and husband, Myrton, of Corinth; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Don Parker; her brothers, Earl Cyr and Clarence Cyr; and sisters, Madeline Reynolds, Phyllis Murphy and Betty Jenkins.
She had wonderful care by the loving nursing staff at Ross Manor in Bangor and Beacon Hospice. She will be sadly missed by her very special sister and brother-in-law who also took loving care of her, Janice and Al Lovelette.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Avenue, Pittsfield, Maine, with her nephew, the Rev. Thomas M. Murphy officiating. A gathering followed in the funeral home. A committal service will be held in the spring at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
