Washburn, FF and PI squads remain perfect

    The Washburn Beavers, Fort Fairfield Tigers and Presque Isle Wildcats continued their perfect seasons with more wins last week.

    Washburn, the four-time defending Class D state champions, ran past Wisdom Friday for its fourth consecutive win, while visiting Fort Fairfield overwhelmed Easton at “The Barn” that same evening.
    The Presque Isle Wildcats kept things going during a busy stretch of games. Presque Isle finished playing four games in five days yesterday afternoon when Hermon paid a visit to the PIHS Gymnasium. The ’Cats took a 5-0 mark into that game after stopping John Bapst, Foxcroft Academy and Fort Kent in recent play.
    Summaries of games played Dec. 16-22 are as follows:
    Presque Isle 89, Fort Kent 39 —Krystal Kingsbury led a balanced scoring effort with 16 points to propel the Wildcats to their fifth win against no losses Monday in Fort Kent.
    Hannah Graham added 13 points while Emily Wheaton and Regan Nelson chipped in 11 and 10, respectively. Olivia Hudson and Jordi Legassie added nine each.
    Cassidy Lovely scored 10 points for the 1-6 Warriors.
    Wisdom 54, Central Aroostook 24 — The visiting Pioneers grabbed an early lead and never looked back Monday in Mars Hill.
    Vanessa Pelletier scored 20 points to pace Wisdom of St. Agatha. Rylee Wright tallied 14 more.
    The Panthers were held without a point in the opening quarter, trailing 15-0. Karli Levesque led Central Aroostook with 13 points.
    Presque Isle girls 56 at Foxcroft 32 — At Dover-Foxcroft Saturday, Krystal Kingsbury’s 12-point effort helped the Wildcats take the victory. Emily Lagerstrom hit three three-point field goals and scored 10 points, while Hannah Graham added nine points for Presque Isle.
    The Wildcats nailed eight three-pointers as a team. It was a nine-point game at halftime, but a16-4 third-quarter scoring run put the game away.
    Madison Chadbourne paced Foxcroft Academy with a game-high 13 points.
    Washburn 63, Wisdom 23 — Mackenzie Worcester scored 10 of her game-high 25 points in the first quarter to lead Washburn to victory Friday in St. Agatha. Worcester finished the game with a statistical “triple-double” as she also recorded 10 assists and 10 steals.
    Joan Overman added 18 points and Laina Mette tossed in 10 for the Beavers.
    For Wisdom, Rhylee Wright and Melanie Bellefleur each recorded 6 points.
    Presque Isle 68, John Bapst 37 — In Friday’s home opener, Kingsbury poured in 27 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Wildcats downed the Crusaders.
    Graham contributed 18 points and five assists as Presque Isle stayed unbeaten.
    John Bapst, which suffered its first loss after a pair of wins to begin the season, was led by Maegan True with 12 points and Gracie Phillipon with 10.
    Fort Fairfield 50, Easton 32 — Kayla Giberson tallied 13 points to lead a balanced attack as Fort Fairfield handed host Easton the defeat Friday.
    Chelsey Pelkey had 10 points and Teresa Maynard eight for the Tigers.
    Hannah Ferris paced Easton with 12 points. No other Bear player had more than four.
    Van Buren 40, Easton 28 — Last Wednesday at Van Buren, Felisha Bouchard recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocked shots to lift the Crusaders past Easton.
    Courtney Parent added 10 points for 3-1 Van Buren.
    Kalie Ward led the Bears, which saw their three-game winning streak to begin the season come to an end with 10 points. Taylor Brown and Blake Bradley contributed six each for Easton.
    Central Aroostook 56, Hodgdon 38 — The visiting Panthers outscored the Hawks by an 18-8 margin in the second quarter last Wednesday and went on to the triumph.
    Karli Levesque and Kelsey Dominique tossed in 18 points each to pace Central Aroostook.
    Hannah Sherman paced Hodgdon with 14 points.
