    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine A free non-credit A+ certification training course is being offered to grow the baseline skills for entry level IT candidates in the workforce, make incumbent workers more employable and gain awareness of Northern Maine Community College’s computer and network technology program,

The Becoming IT! Initiative has been established at the college. The lecture portion will be delivered online at the equivalent of two classroom hours per week. Students will be responsible for keeping track of items due and submitting them as assigned.
Instructor-assisted lab sessions will meet on campus in the computer electronics lab Monday and Tuesday evenings from 4-7 p.m. beginning Jan. 12, 2015. The course ends May 5.
Upon completion of the course, students will be scheduled for two exams to become certified.
In all, students will receive 120 hours of training, a textbook and lab manual and two exam vouchers and a seat in on-campus exam administration — a $1,150 value at no charge.
To be eligible, students must be 18 years of age by Jan. 11, 2015, be eligible to work in the United States, take a placement test, or prove successful completion of college level algebra and English Composition and have access to a computer with internet access.
