For the safety of the patrons, the Walter T.A. Hansen Memorial Library will be closed for approximately three to four weeks beginning the middle of January 2015. This will be while the ceiling and lighting replacement is being implemented.
Library officials apologize for this inconvenience and look forward to seeing everyone when the library reopens.
Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Dec. 23. at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speakers were Rotarian Pam Townsend and Sue McCrum. Pam is the vice president of Maine Agri-Women and Sue is the president of the U. S. Agri-Women Organization.
They spoke of the National AAW Convention, “Harvesting for the Future,” to be held on Nov. 5-7, 2015 in Portland. Plans are underway to organize speakers and tours for the convention. This will allow the Maine members to showcase Maine’s natural resources and industries.
Founded in 1974, American Agri-Women has over 40,000 members in 57 affiliates. Maine Agri-Women was formed in 1992 and currently has 25 members. The organization uses educational booths, cooking contests and more to promote the importance of agriculture. Food security is a key component in a country’s health and well-being.
Aroostook Health Center
Upcoming events for the week of Dec. 31, 2014 through Jan. 6, 2015 include: Wednesday will feature a New Year’s Eve Party with Larry and Larry at 1:30 p.m. Thursday is New Years Day and will be a day to spend with friends and family. Friday will feature Pokeno at 9:30 a.m. and Music with The Countrymen at 1:30 p.m. Saturday will be a free day. Sunday will be a free day — televised church will be available in the day room. Monday will feature Coffee Chat at 9:30 a.m., Nail Beautiful at 10 a.m., Catholic Mass at 1:30 p.m. and Gospel Group at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday will feature the Beauty Parlor at 8:30 a.m., Bingo at 9:30 a.m. and Card Games at 1:30 p.m. All of these activities are subject to change. If you would like to volunteer to help with any of these activities, call Connie or Vicki at 768-4915.
BINGO
The William Cousins Post 118 of Mars Hill is hosting BINGO every Saturday evening from 7 p.m. until done. There are cash prizes. Refreshments are available. Come on out and enjoy a fun evening with friends!
