The Washburn Middle and High School band and chorus held their annual Christmas Concert on Dec. 22.
A packed gymnasium of family, friends and community members enjoyed an hour-long program of great music. All the groups sounded wonderful and you could tell they put a lot of time and effort into preparing for their concert.
Birthdays/anniversaries
Those celebrating a birthday between Dec. 31, 2014 and Jan. 6, 2015 include: Joanna Pike, Chris McCoy, Loren Johnson, Maurice White Jr., Paul Wilson, Deborah Tarr , Diane DuMont, Roger Connolly, Isaiah DuMont, Michaela Bragg, Penny Richardson, Kathy McCarty, Edna Sherburne, Mia Pangburn and Alton Bragg.
Those celebrating an anniversary between Dec. 31, 2014 and Jan. 6, 2015 include: Willie and Judy Drost, Jim and Debbie LeClair, and Gary and Laurie Blackstone.
Headed for Hoop Shoot
The David J. Lyon Washburn District Elementary School will send six representatives to the County Elk Hoop Shoot to be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Wieden Gymnasium.
A total of 75 students — 41 girls and 34 boys — participated in the local Hoop Shoot, conducted by Physical Education Instructor Laura Gardiner and Recreation Director Marci Barbarula.
The six representing Washburn include: Kassidy Blackstone and Elijah Colon, 8- and 9-year-old division; Madison Miller and Brayden Castonguay, in the 10- and 11-year-old class; and Kassie Farley and Joshua Jackson, 12- to 13-year-old category.
The Presque Isle Elk Lodge provided trophies to the six local winners.
