WYTOPITLOCK – Curtis Eugene Rollins, 76, died December 28, 2014, in Houlton. He was born March 10, 1938, in Wytopitlock, the son of Eugene and Mary (Dow) Rollins.
Curt “MacGyver” Rollins was known for his many ingenious handyman ways. His favorite tools were duct tape and bicycle innertubes. He was a hardworking man all his life. He started working in the woods at the age of nine years with his grandfather, Bill, and loved every minute of it. He was a man who would do anything for his family or friends.
Curt liked to enjoy life and kick it up a little in his younger days. He came to know his Lord and served him with a great capacity of generosity and forgiveness. Anyone who knew him was better for it. For all of us left behind grieving, Curt would tell us “this too shall pass.”
Curt is survived by his wife, Doris (Richardson) Rollins and his children, Deborah, Cally, Curtis, Andrew and Amy; grandchildren, Travis, Candace, Tyrone, Jeremy, Nichole, Ethan, Schuyler, Samuel, Sydney, Shiloh, Shema and Tiffany; several great-grand-children; several step-children; many nieces, nephews, cousins and two very special cousins, Rodger and Paul. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley (McEwen) Rollins in 1993; two special uncles who were like brothers to him, Garfield and Dale “Uncle Chippy” and many other special people in his life.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Houlton Fire Dept. on Friday, January 2 from 12-5 p.m. Please bring photos and memories to share. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bowers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 579, Houlton, ME 04730. For an online memory book and to leave condolences, please visit www.bowers funeral.com.
