BRIDGEWATER – Larry James Kingsbury, 63, passed away December 25, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 24, 1951, the fifth child of Al and Mickey (Grass) Kingsbury.
Larry graduated from Central Aroostook High School, class of 1969, RETS Electronics School in Boston and the University of Maine at Presque Isle in December 1991.
He was in the 101st Airborne Division of the Army serving in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Air Commendation Medal, Sharp shooter Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was employed at McCains in Easton for many years. He was a past chairman of the Bridgewater School System and President of the Northern Maine Tractor Club.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Denise (Bird); their children and spouses: Chad and Jessica Kingsbury of Bridgewater, Lori and Andrew McQuade of Mars Hill, and Jerod and Jessica Kingsbury of Westfield. Larry’s pride and joy was in his grandchildren, Elaine, Mallory, Maggie, Jack, Luke, Ella and Allen. He is also survived by his siblings, Rita Kingsbury and her companion, Bob Bell, of Washburn, Dennis and Cathy Kingsbury, Keith and Donna Kingsbury of Bridgewater, Virginia Kingsbury of Vacaville, CA, Julie and Dana Malone of Peircerville, VA, and Scott and Kelly Kingsbury of E. Plantation; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry is also survived by friends and members of the tractor club that he loved and enjoyed.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Aroostook Cancer Care and the staff of the Oncology Radiology Department for the care and compassion shown to Larry and family during his care.
Friends and family called at the Bridgewater Free Baptist Church on Monday, December 29, from 6-8 p.m., where a funeral service with military honors was held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, December 30, Rev. Robert Peters and Rev. Mark Carter officiating. A reception followed services at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O.
