My sister is always looking at the Central Aroostook Humane Society website and checking out the available pets up for adoption. Every time, and over many, many months, she has said “That little Snow White is still at the shelter!”

SNOW WHITE has been at the Central Aroostook Humane Society in Presque Isle for over 10 months and would very much like a new home for the New Year.  FS-CAHS-SnowWhite-cx1-shar-53

I realized that this beautiful cat has spent 10 months at the shelter after being brought in from Caribou because her owner had too many cats. As my sister kept mentioning her over and over, I stopped up to the shelter and met her myself. She is a beautiful girl, already spayed, up to date on shots and waiting ever so patiently for that special someone to come and adopt her.
It tugs at the heart strings to see many of the cats born at the shelter and then continue to grow up knowing only the inside of a cage. Our staff and volunteers do their very best to play and socialize with each one every day, but it just isn’t the same as having a warm lap to lay on and a home to call their very own.
Snow White will continue to live at the Central Aroostook Humane Society, but it is our hope that someone will see her beautiful face and fall in love. She deserves so much more than living out her days like this. Betsy, our manager, feels that Snow White would do well in a home without other pets. So please stop by the shelter if you think you may be the right family member for Snow White!
Well, another year is drawing to a close and as we look back at 2014, we can’t help but be thankful for all the blessings that the year has brought to the Central Aroostook Humane Society. Without the support of all the Aroostook County communities and generous folks and businesses, there would be no way to continue doing the important work that we do.
We do our very best to provide the homeless animals that come through our doors with a safe, warm and loving environment until that right family comes along. Betsy reported that the fifth graders at Zippel Elementary School in Presque Isle dropped off toys, bleach, paper products, office supplies and many much-needed items. And the Pine Street Elementary kindergarten students had a penny drive and brought in an unbelievable $600! We can’t tell you how much this support means to us — we are truly blessed!
The girls at the shelter have certainly been enjoying some wonderful treats: pizza from Maxine Reed; a platter of sandwiches from Verna Smith, Henry Gilman and Callie; Christmas treats from Nancy Smith and Parker! Our girls certainly appreciate the kindness of others!
Please stop in at the Central Aroostook Human Society and visit with Snow White and the many other loving pets that are up for adoption. We are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closing for lunch noon to 12:30 p.m. Check us out on petfinders.com and Facebook. Please be responsible, spay and neuter your pets!
