‘Hidden In Plain Sight’ exhibit aims to make parents more aware

CARIBOU — In January, Plourde Furniture Company, Power of Prevention and the Caribou Police Department will unveil a unique exhibit geared to help parents learn to identify signs that may reveal risky teen behaviors.

Entitled “Hidden In Plain Sight,” the exhibit will be designed to resemble a teenager’s bedroom, and is a must-see for anyone with kids, especially teens, in their home. Throughout the display are items that may indicate that a teen is involved in some high-risk behavior such as substance abuse, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity and more.
The event will take place on Friday, Jan. 16, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Plourde Furniture Company, which is located at 150 Bennett Drive in Caribou. No youth will be permitted.
Power of Prevention and Caribou Police Department staff will be on hand to guide participants through the exhibit and to answer any questions. Organizers encourage adults to explore and interact with the display to get an up-close look at the items in the room; participants will be enlightened, educated and astonished.
Healthy You and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department are also sponsoring this event, for which there is no cost to attend.
