PATTEN, Maine — Officials from the Maine State Fire Marshall’s Office were unable to determine the cause of a New Year’s Eve fire in Patten.
Tim Lowell, an investigator with the Fire Marshall’s Office, said Monday that an apartment located over a residential garage at 222 South Patten Road was destroyed Dec. 31 when a fire broke out around 7 p.m. Lowell said the exact cause of the fire was undetermined because of the massive damage, but noted it started in the kitchen area of the apartment, near the stove.
“The entire top half of the garage was burned right off,” Lowell said.
No one was believed to be injured as a result of the fire.
Attempts to reach the Patten Fire Chief for additional comments were not successful by presstime.
