The Bread of Life Soup Kitchen on Collins Street hosted the Kiwanis Club Dinner on Jan. 6. Ken Murchison, the 2015 Soup Kitchen board chair, welcomed the club and gave a brief overview of the kitchen, Bread of Life’s mission and their aspirations. Roast pork and scalloped potatoes with all the fixings were served and after the introduction of the Soup Kitchen staff — Norma Akerson, Betty Holdsworth, Matt Gagnon and Kitchen Manager Paul Hanson — deserts of banana cream and lemon squares and blueberry pie were offered. The Soup Kitchen staff and volunteers expressed a sincere and heartfelt “Thank you” to the Kiwanis of Caribou for a great night of fellowship and for their very generous donation to their mission. Presenting the donation to Murchison, at right, was Kiwanis Club President Jeff Franklin.
