The Oakfield Senior Citizens met Jan. 7, and had our Christmas meal later than usual due to the bad weather in December. It was a very good meal, enjoyed by 26 members and one guest who attended with her sister who was from Deer Isle. The sister stated she really enjoyed our seniors’ meal and enjoyed our Christmas gifts with a Yankee Swap. That is always a fun time with everyone.
Sharon Anderson won the 50/50 raffle. Cards will be sent to a number of those who are sick; bereavement cards will also be sent.
The treasurer’s report was given and accepted. Don Marley led us in the Lord’s Prayer and flag salute. We had 13 signed up for the new year. We have a grand time visiting and catching up on the news.
We currently have 30 members that attend most of the time and enjoy our lunch and entertainment. Attending this last meeting were Sharon Anderson, Jessie Barrett, George Barrows, Geneva Bell, Kathleen Boutilier, David Burpee, Bernice Campbell, Alma Clark, Jeanne Clements, Bill Dill, Earl and Lottie Doughty, Thelma Flowers, Nanci Fowler, Arlene Friel, Donna Furrow, Mildred Gagnon, Marie Gillotti, Sandra Holmes, Robert and Delores Locke, Charlotte and Donald Marley, Iona Nadeau, Bonnie Pratt, Sherry Shaw, Wanetta Townsend, Juanita Wiggins, and one guest, Susan Scott.
The next meeting will be Jan. 21.
