Swimmers in action
LIMESTONE, Maine — Foxcroft Academy joined local swim teams Presque Isle and Caribou at Saturday’s meet at the Limestone Community School pool.
The Wildcat boys were beaten by the Ponies and also fell to the Vikings, while the PI girls lost to Foxcroft but nipped Caribou by a point.
In the 200 medley relay, Presque Isle’s team of Olivia Goulet, Elizabeth Deschenes, Madelyn Wing and Libbee Currie placed second in 2:35.9.
For the 200 I.M., Wing came in third in 2:38.52. Deschenes was fourth in the 50 free in 36.39 seconds and Currie was fifth in 36.89.
Matt Burtt picked up an individual victory in the boys’ 50, recording a time of 24.43 seconds. Teammate Leigh Buck was the runner-up in 24.97.
The 100 free had two girls from PI place among the top five. Goulet was second for girls in 1:15.8 and Currie was fifth in 1:23.12. Buck took first in the boys’ race in 58.94 seconds.
Wing earned the win in the 500 free in 6:10.92 and she joined Goulet, Currie and Deschenes on the 200 free relay team which took second in 2:19.
In the 100 back, Goulet was third in 1:32.1 and Katrina Dakin took sixth in 1:57.2.
Deschenes placed third in the 100 breast in 1:46.55, while Burtt was the boys’ winner in 1:17.73.
