ANNUAL MEETING — The Presque Isle Industrial Council held their annual meeting Jan. 5 in City Council’s chamber at City Hall. Pictured from left are: PIIC board members Frank Bemis and Dick Engels, Board Chair Scott Norton, PIIC Executive Director Larry Clark, board member Randy Smith, board member Ray Hews and Board Treasurer/Secretary Billie Brodsky, and City Manager Jim Bennett.
In the bylaws, a name change was made from referring to the Presque Isle Chamber of Commerce to its current name, the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce.
Under the election of directors, Billie Brodsky, who was nominated by the CACC and who’d served for three years, was re-elected to serve another term.
“There are also three directors at large who can’t be a member of the Chamber or City Council. The term that has expired is Frank Bemis, who’s willing to serve another term,” said Clark.
Councilor Randy Smith nominated Bemis for another term, seconded by Councilor Mike Chasse, with councilors voting 5-0-1 in favor of Bemis’s reappointment. Councilor Dick Engels, who works with Bemis, abstained from the vote.
Clark then gave his annual report on the status of the Industrial Park, followed by the PIIC’s directors’ meeting. Present were: Frank Bemis, Dick Engels, Scott Norton, Larry Clark, Randy Smith, Ray Hews, Billie Brodsky and Jim Bennett. The minutes were accepted as presented. Norton was elected chair, with Mike MacPherson being named vice chair and Brodksy named treasurer/secretary. Director meetings are held once a month. For more information, call Clark at 764-2542.
