     TOMPKINS, Rita E., 89, MERIDEN, CT & PRESQUE ISLE, ME, at Meriden, CT, January 19, 2015. The funeral and burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. 

    MERIDEN, CT & PRESQUE ISLE – Rita E. Tompkins, 89, died on Monday, January 19, 2015, at Meriden Care and Rehab Center after a brief illness. Born in Skowhegan on December 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Almon and Blanche Paradis Moreau.
    She had resided in Meriden, CT, for the past sixty-four years. She graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1944.
    She was employed by the city of Meriden Library for over twenty-five years before her retirement. She served as secretary of the local AARP Chapter.
    She is survived by two sons, James A. Tompkins of Phoenix, AZ, and Bernard L. Tompkins of Meriden; and a sister, Joyce Brown of Mapleton. She will be missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, John.
