Fire damages Huber mill
EASTON, Maine — Huber Engineered Wood, LLC’s mill, located at 333 Station Rd., was temporarily shut down following a fire in the production area on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015.
“It was a small fire that was put out by our in-house brigade,” said Bob Currie, vice president of communications and public affairs for Huber.
Currie said no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
“The facility is temporarily shut down for repairs. We’re still evaluating the damage,” said Currie, during a phone interview on Jan. 22.
Currie said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
He said company officials were taking their time to ensure everything was in working order before resuming production.
“We’ll take as much time as necessary to bring (the mill) back on line safely,” said Currie, noting, “this was not an incident of great alarm.”
Currie said officials were “impressed with the care taken by employees and their commitment to safety.”
