HOULTON – Evangeline A. Cullins Bates, 86, passed away January 22, 2015, at a local hospital. She was born Nov. 29, 1928, at Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Roy B. and Lettie (Whitten) Adams.
Evangeline worked for many years as a secretary for Monticello Potato Shippers, Watson Well Drilling and LE McNair before going to work for the Department of Health and Human Service. She was a member of the Military Street Baptist Church for many years. She loved listening to gospel music, spending time with her family and reading a good book.
Evangeline is survived by her three sons, Mark Cullins and his wife, Annabella, Beecher Cullins, and Norman Cullins; special daughter, Melanie Wilson; grandson, Shannon Mark Cullins; special niece, Kimberly Cyr; special friend, Florence Briggs. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Linda; her brothers, LeRoy and Lewis; the father of her children, Donald Cullins; and her second husband, Gordon Bates.
