The Varney Agency junior Black Hawk Bantams traveled to Presque Isle for a game on Sunday.
In the first period the junior Black Hawks controlled the play, but couldn’t get on the board. Goalie Seth Rand turned away every shot and after the first period, the teams were scoreless.
Scoring picked up in the second as Presque Isle netted three goals. Houlton’s Drew Marino buried a one-timer from the point from a pass by Maddie Grant and the score was 3-1.
Once again the junior Black Hawks controlled most of the play during the third period. Alex Wilde got one past the Presque Isle goalie in a wild rush in front of the net. Later in the period, Nick Delucca fed his brother, Nate, with a pass to tie the game at 3-all.
Garrett Perkins, Marino, Grant and Gavin Vining played great defense, limiting Presque Isle’s scoring chances. Coach Weber was very pleased with the way the team fought back from being down 3-0 to earn the tie.
The Bantams take the ice again this Sunday against Presque Isle at noon at the John Millar Civic Center.
