      DICKINSON, Mary J., 58, PRESQUE ISLE, January 31, 2015. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

    PRESQUE ISLE – Mary J. Dickinson, 58, passed away Saturday night, January 31, 2015, at a Presque Isle health care facility after a brave battle with cancer. She was born in Presque Isle on Oct. 1, 1956, the daughter of Elwood and Yvonne (Sock) Jewell.
    Mary was a former Tribal Chief for The Aroostook Band of Micmacs, and continued to work for her community throughout her life. She was past Exalted Ruler and trustee of the Presque Isle Elks Club BPOE 1954. She was Presque Isle citizen of the year, and received many honors and recognitions in her lifetime.
    She is survived by her husband, Dana Dickinson; her mother, Yvonne Nadeau and her husband, Jim; two daughters, Michelle Bragdon and Melanie Philbrook, all of Presque Isle; two brothers, Nelson Jewell and his wife, Shirley, of Levant, and Greg Jewell of New Hampshire; a half-brother, Roger Jewell of Caribou; step-brother, David Nadeau and his wife, Stacey, of Caribou; three sisters, Gail Jewell and her companion, John Marti-nelli, of Mapleton, Shirley Jewell and her companion, Joe Bourgoin, of Washburn, and Priscilla Jewell of Bangor; two half-sisters, Minerva Buxton and Sadie Shields, both of Houlton; three grandsons, Dakota, Mason and Wyatt of Presque Isle; several nieces and  nephews.
    She was predeceased by her father, “Woody” Jewell; and a granddaughter, Michaela.
    Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with Rev. Roger Jewell officiating.
