Officials with Aroostook County Action Program, Inc. have announced the agency has received a $4,150 grant from the Hudson Foundation to support low-income clients with emergency heating assistance.

ACAP receives donations that help supplement the federal benefits that are available to low-income clients through LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program). In addition, donations can be used to help clients who may not qualify for LIHEAP but nevertheless find themselves in a situation where they need support. Last year, 143 clients received an average of $240 from the donation fund.
“As a result of this gift from the Hudson Foundation, we will be able to assist up to 15 additional families with emergency heating assistance needs,” explains Connie Sandstrom, ACAP’s executive director. “We are grateful to the Hudson Foundation for providing this support to our most vulnerable Aroostook County neighbors and friends.”
The Hudson Foundation strives to strengthen communities through strategic and thoughtful monetary grants. In recent years, the majority of non-profits funded by the foundation are organizations that serve the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized individuals and populations.
