FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — A new fire chief will be named in the near future, following the resignation of Fire Chief Mike Jalbert in January.
“Officials for the town of Fort Fairfield will begin interviewing applicants for the position of fire chief this week,” said Town Manager Mike Bosse.
Bosse said he’d received Jalbert’s letter of resignation early last month, with an ad placed in The Star-Herald soon after seeking applicants for the position.
“It’s a full-time position for a paid call volunteer fire department. Mike gave us 30-day notice. We plan to have the position filled in the near future,” said Bosse.
According to Bosse, several resumes were received and will be reviewed, with the field narrowed and interviews scheduled.
“We’re in the process of reviewing resumes. We received a couple dozen. We’ll narrow them down to about a half dozen, then begin interviewing those. Once the interviews are concluded, we’ll make our final decision,” said Bosse.
Bosse did not say why Jalbert resigned.
Several attempts to contact Jalbert for a comment were unsuccessful at presstime.
