The Maine State Police Troop F division in Houlton responded to the following incidents from Sunday, Feb. 1 to Sunday, Feb. 8.
Wednesday, Feb. 4

    • Trooper Darcy, Sgt. Fuller, and Warden Martin responded to a snowmobile trail in Patten to assist the ambulance service. A 77-year-old man had a heart attack after attempting to get his snowmobile unstuck from the snow. Darcy and Warden Martin took a snowmobile several miles into the woods to assist the EMTs with getting the patient to the ambulance. They also assisted patient’s wife and got both snowmobiles and their belongings out. The man was pronounced dead at the hospital later that evening.
    • Trooper Hafford taught the Border Patrol Explorer class about evidence recovery and crime scene processing.
Friday, Feb. 6
    • Trooper Bell responded to Hodgdon for a report of a car off the road. Bell met the car leaving the scene of the accident and initiated a stop to ensure that the driver was uninjured and the vehicle was not damaged. Investigation revealed that the front tires had no tread, which contributed to the original crash. The driver was warned for several violations and the vehicle had to be towed because it was unsafe to drive on snow-covered roads.
    • Trooper Sylvia and Sgt. Haines responded to a family fight in Littleton where a 15-year-old male called reporting he was assaulted by his mother’s boyfriend. Investigation showed the boy was refusing to follow mother’s rules and things started getting physical between mother and son over a phone, so the boyfriend restrained the boy so he could not hurt his mother. No crime occurred and the 15-year-old was told to follow his mother’s rules.
Saturday, Feb. 7
    • Trooper Casavant was called to assist Border Patrol with a traffic stop in Cyr Plantation. As a result the operator was summonsed for OAS.
During the week, a 23-year-old female was arrested in Georgia and extradited back to Aroostook County for charges stemming from a theft that occurred in St. Francis in September. Trooper Hafford had charged her for a felony theft and indicted her last month for this crime. The female is currently being held in Aroostook County Jail.
