Churches will again offer noontime Lenten lunch-services

Beginning at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, February 25, and continuing for the next four Wednesdays, the churches of the Southern Aroostook Ministerial Association (SAMA) will sponsor a five-week series of Lenten lunches, consisting of a variety of soups and breads. At approximately 12:30 each week, the host church will then offer a time of spiritual preparation for Easter, which could consist of Scripture readings, a brief reflection, prayer, music, discussion, etc. – all while attendees are still seated and finishing up their meal.
“Food, Fellowship, and Faith” is the overall theme, and the public is cordially invited to attend these noonday times of gathering to eat, to fellowship, and to receive spiritual nourishment.  While there is no cost for the meals, baskets will be available to receive any donations given for The Salvation Army Fuel Fund. (Leftovers will be available to take home as an extra meal!)
Host churches plan to begin serving right at noon, and the meal and service will end by 12:45 p.m. The five-week schedule is as follows: Feb. 25, St. Mary’s Church; March 4, Church of the Good Shepherd (Watson Hall); March 11, First Baptist Church; March 18, Houlton United Methodist Church; and March 25, Church on the Hill (Military Street Baptist Church).
