Downtown ski festival

    The seventh annual Downtown Caribou Ski Festival and Mid Winter Frolic will be held Saturday, Feb. 28 on Sweden Street. The Aroostook Youth Ski Festival is open to youth of all ages and begins at 9 a.m., while the middle school ski sprints for grades 5-8 get underway at 10 a.m. The Maine State Ski Sprints, open to all ages, will take place at 1 p.m.

Henry Anderson Memorial Ski Dag

    The 40th annual ski dag at the Caribou Ski Trails will be held Sunday, March 1. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m. The public is invited to participate.

Ski 4 Life Program

    The program is for youth in grades 6-8 and provides an opportunity to learn how to ski. Students will be picked up from Caribou Middle School at 2:45 p.m. and transported to Bigrock Ski Area in Mars Hill. The fee is $80, which includes a lift ticket, ski rentals, a mandatory lesson and transportation. The program will be held March 4, 19, 26 and April 3. Pre-registration is required. Take It Outside Adult Series offers events in March

    The Take It Outside Adult Series will offer an ice fishing trip to Madawaska Lake March 17. Transportation, ice traps, bait, an auger and a lake-side lunch will be provided for a fee of $25 per person.
An overnight trip to Katahdin Lake Wilderness Cabins in Baxter State Park is being offered March 21 and 22. Participants will be provided with a complete gear list. The fee is $175, which includes transportation, skis, rentals, trekking poles, cabin lodging and meals.
A snowshoe adventure is planned for March 24 at a fee of $20 per person.

Men’s 30-and-over basketball

    Men’s 30-and-over basketball is underway and meets Sundays from 10 a.m.-noon and Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. through April 28.
The halfcourt program is designed for gentlemen 30 years of age and over and meets at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center gym. On Sundays, there is a $3 per player fee. Call Matt Bouchard at 493-4224 for more information.

Recreation center hours

    The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and noon-4 p.m. on Saturday. The facility is closed Sundays.

Cross country ski trails

    The trails, located behind Caribou Country Club, are now open with 10 miles of groomed trails.
