University Singers to perform in Star City
PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine’s University Singers will hold a free concert in Presque Isle as part of the choir’s annual spring tour.
The ensemble will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Presque Isle Middle School.
An advanced concert choir whose members come from all disciplines across campus, nearly half of the University of Maine Singers are from areas outside of music.
Under the direction of Francis Vogt, a School of Performing Arts faculty member, the ensemble performs multiple concerts on campus throughout the academic year, tours New England for one week each spring, and performs abroad every four years. In 2012, the group sang in Switzerland, Italy and Austria. The group regularly performs with the Oratorio Society and the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
Auditions, open to any student, are held at the start of every fall semester.
