Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center. The special speaker was Kay York, Central Aroostook Junior/Senior High School principal. She calls the school a “Happy Happenin’ Place” and says that the students are very vibrant and involved with many things. She noted more and more students are making the honor roll.
The math team will participate in the state meet in March, several Youth in Government students will travel to Washington, D.C. and the Class D state champion cheerleaders will travel to participate in the New England competition.
There were also three skiers that were in the top 10 at the state ski meet held at BigRock recently, with the girls’ team receiving the Sportsmanship Banner.
Kay is working on her doctorate, which she plans to finish by May of 2016. In addition, there are many teachers that are taking graduate courses.
The theme for this school year is “Cross The Line.” She wants the students to focus, work hard and bounce back from mistakes. She urges students not to settle for just getting by but choose the better choice to become the best they can be as a student and an individual.
